Technshare Review

December 28th, 2009 thespeaker No comments

Let me start off by saying that the overall layout and look of this blog has very good qualities.  From the search bar at the very top to the archives and recent comments at the bottom, Technshare is a highly thought out site.  Each post fits into an existing category or creates a new one.  One thing that bothers me a little is that the Tag Cloud and Categories sections on the side bar, seem to be of the same words.  The Cloud seems to be more for looks then for actual use because it is a little difficult to select words that are farther away in the cloud.  But I love how there are multiple download links for files.  Each from a different site so there is little chance of file errors.  Also each post is filled with helpful information, like the most popular post, “30 Ways to increase Your Site’s Traffic”.  I will definitely be using some of those tips for my blog.

Altogether it is a useful blog for anyone interested in technology or someone who wants to learn something new.  Please leave any comments you have about this blog.

Review of Rogue Deals

October 24th, 2009 stevestuff No comments

rouge-dealsAt first glance,I wasn’t too sure whether I wanted to review Rogue Deals: Articles N’ Deals for Techies, as this is one of those with hard to read 9 point font with broken characters. And my eyesight ain’ all that great. But with a simple control+scroll-up, I was good to go.

The article that naturally caught my attention was this post about telemarketers. I figured that continuing into this article, I’d find some great wise-cracks to use when confronted. Turns out, it was a very informative article on the best way to get unlisted, especially when you’re directly targeted.

But this post does not reflect the main content. Founder Eric Wiegand, has set this blog up to be an unbiased information depot for new gadgets and products. Along with his two featured columnists Tony Ramirez and Matt Galeza, they share extended reviews on electronics, movies, software, and video games.

All-in-all, I think this is a great journal to make a stop-and-see. The layout and graphics blend well, and natural eye focus leads a viewer in the right direction. Excluding the small print, I give this blog 10 points.

I Am Blogging

October 14th, 2009 powerkor No comments

I Am Blogging is a blog ran by a passionate India blogger by the name of Anirban Roy. It hosts a variety of information regarding new web technology and news which is definitely worth checking out. Even as a serious computer wiz myself, I found a few posts that really taught me something. No only that, it is very well organized and the theme is pretty solid which lets face it… is hard to find when surfing the net for new bloggers. Also, navigating around this information is pretty effortless and actually enjoyable.

Its hard to find blogs that are easy to read and enjoy… I think I Am Blogging does just that… he has a casual style that makes you feel as if you are in an actual conversation and the topics are very helpful to web designers, bloggers, and anyone interested in technology. The updates on his site are pretty regular, which is a good sign that it is worth your time to bookmark or subscribe to the RSS feed. When someone is willing to share his or her experiencings with you and they can write well, there’s nothing to lose by supporting that person… especially if its a topic you are highly interested in. Thanks for the experience Anirban Roy, I hope your blog succeeds in its goals.

GadgetEffect Review!

May 9th, 2009 swillard8 1 comment

I think I ended up lucky with this Blog :) seeing as I’m a bit of a techy!  Anyway, I’m Sam Willard and my Blog is www.germany-today.co.uk.

On the outside, Gadget Effect seems like a very organised website, what I like about it is the way each post is formatted.  For whatever post there is you have an “Intro” and “The goods” then “Inside my brain”.  Which I find a catchy way of writing, this way people know where the facts are about the tech, but also where the opinion is.

On another organsation note, I can see many catagories down the side, which is a good sign!  I think for a reader this is pleasing to know that the site has so many article and expertise on a range of areas.

One note I would have about the appearance of the site is; the pictures.  The fist few articles on there have very strange images, not that they don’t fit the article, it’s just they could be a bot more helpful for the reader.  For example “Small HDMI is half the size” has a slice of toast cut in half, although this is kind of humerous, I would like to actually see the dimensions or prototype of this new product.  You can take this from blogs like Engadget, where they posted about the same article, but had comparisions and dimensions of the new product.

Apart from that, I’d say the theme needs a bit of an upgrade, maybe something that made it look more like a tech website i.e. a dynamic looking header.

All in all, GadgetEffect is a good read, but there are a few points it could be improved.
